And here is another reason for a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
HUCKLEBERRY PICKING RAKES WERE OUR NUMBER ONE IN SALES VOLUME FOR 2008!
Just a heads up if you are interested more sales during the coming year...
For those of you who opted NOT to take on the huckleberry rake line we offered, you missed an opportunity. We sold rakes online to 12 different states (including four on the East Coast) and two Canadian provinces... and sales continued strong into the holidays, as they were a HOT Christmas gift... in fact they continue to move, as we just sold another rake last week, to someone from Sagle, Idaho, and just took an order for four more yesterday, to Alaska.
Even if your shop is not located in huckleberry country, people traveling to pick huckleberries buy rakes where they live.
ALL of the retailers who wholesaled the rakes in 2008 did well, and all placed re-orders (some multiple times) during the huckleberry season. Unfortunately, I am guessing even some of those lost sales by selling out (assuming no one would buy after Labor Day), and NOT re-ordering for the holidays.
Since we are filling a void in the market, I do not know how much longer sales for this item will continue at the current pace -- BUT we barely scratched the surface in 2008. We expect to quadruple sales in 2009. Are you going to ride this profitable wave?
We are now accepting applications for EXCLUSIVE wholesale accounts for 2009, and will be serving the huckleberry picking market aggressively.
We hope you will be getting on board, if your geographic community is still available. (See short list of closed communities further below.)
2008 was perhaps the best huckleberry crop in 14 years. With the current heavy snows in forested habitat, I am expecting 2009 to be just as good. We are a bit concerned that the cold snap before the deep snows came, might have frosted the branch tips where the berries come on, but we won't know for sure until summer. But even if the crop is bad, all the more reason people want rakes... to make their time out in the woods MORE PRODUCTIVE!
Minimum order is 12 rakes, with a guaranteed 100% BUY BACK of anything that does not sell. Since shipping costs are optimized at 24 units (lowest cost/unit) and we only had one retailer -- who ordered very late --- not sell at least 24 rakes, we will include a small advertising kit with an initial order of 24. The kit will help you advertise locally, and really bring in new customers... who might stick around and pick up a few other items. We found out how to market this product very inexpensively, and drive traffic to your store, and you will benefit. And again, we offer a 100% sales guarantee so you are out nothing if not a single rake sells! (However, we KNOW they will...in fact we expect you to order AT LEAST one more double case of 24.)
However, the following communities are completely FULL, and no wholesale account opportunities are available:
Cascade, Idaho
Moscow, Idaho
Orofino, Idaho
Swan Valley/Driggs, Idaho
BigFork, Montana
We are partially saturated with wholesale accounts for 2009, at these locations:
Spokane, Washington
Juneau, Alaska
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
We will offer one or two more retailers the opportunity to carry our line in each of the three cities above. In small towns, we limit accounts to one per community.
During the year, and into the fall, we sold TONS of rakes online to customers in northern Idaho, southwest Idaho, western Montana, northeast Washington, and northeast Oregon. We also sold quite a few to Utah, Alaska, Michigan (?), northern California, and western Oregon and Washington. If you live where people go into the mountains in the summer or fall to pick huckleberries (or if they know someone who does), this product is an easy sell.
I think Sandpoint, Idaho and Missoula, Montana would be the absolute two best markets for selling huckleberry rakes in a retail store, and many other Pacific Northwest, Inland Northwest, or Intermountain locations are only a hair behind.

Doctors tell me it is one of the worse ankle sprains they have ever seen! Since then, I have been spending most of my time, on the couch with my leg up in the air rather than on the road visiting you and your store! I am working my way through my list trying to call as many stores as possible to make sure you have products in time for the coming tourist season. If you need products immediately and you haven’t heard from me yet, please do not hesitate to call me, order off my website or send me an email to let me know what you need. Hopefully, I will be up and going soon, but at this time, it is still too early to tell when that will be. (PS Doc said I’d have been better off if I broke the ankle. Ouch!)
